WHAT IS AN INVESTOR’S VISA
In September 2013, the Spanish government approved an Investor Residency Visa called the Spanish Investor’s Visa which allows its holder and his family to have a residency permit in Spain, as well as the right to enter the Schengen area countries without a new visa, as long as he spends one day per year at least in Spain.
To obtain this visa, the investor should in return invest in Spain through one of the following options:
- Investing in a real estate in Spain with a minimum value of 500,000 Euros.
- A monetary investment of:
1. A minimum of 1 million Euros of shares in listed/non-listed Spanish companies or a bank deposit in a Spanish banking entity.
2. A minimum of 2 million Euros in Spanish public debt (bonds).
PROCEDURES
- The application should be filed before a Spanish Consulate.
- The visa will be received within 10 days in general but may take up to 2 months according to each case.
- The visa will be granted for one year and is a multiple entry visa.
- No further follow up is needed, such as processing an identity card or a social security card…
- Once the visa is obtained, the holder is eligible to apply for a two-year residency permit, automatically renewable for another two years.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE VISA APPLICATION
- Health insurance covering Spain
- Family certificates (in case of applying for a visa for spouse and/or children together with the head of the family).
- Health Certificate.
- Police clearance.
- Proof of investment.
